SUMMARY:General Meeting: Matt Paradeis - Assessing the Impact of Oriented Perforations and Frac Plug Performance in DJ Basin: A Case Study from Chevron Leveraging DarkVision Technology
DESCRIPTION:Assessing the Impact of Oriented Perforations and Frac Plug Performance in DJ Basin: A Case Study from Chevron Leveraging DarkVision Technology \nChevron Rockies Business Unit began an effort in late-2022 to evaluate the effectiveness of its perforation design using modern\, solid-state acoustic imaging technology. This evaluation uses DarkVision Technologies’ imaging tools deployed on coiled tubing after hydraulic fracturing\, between well cleanout and running production tubing. An initial study was designed with three wells in the DJ Basin of northeastern Colorado using three different perforation schemes of various orientation. All were approximately 10\,000’ laterals with dissolvable frac plugs for stage isolation.   \nThe three-well study revealed eye opening information regarding the frac plugs performance\, both during the initial setting and during pressure pumping. Furthermore\, the expected downstream impacts resulting from these findings were also observed and analyzed. This case of study highlights the key findings of the completed study\, the mitigation strategy implemented\, and the results obtained from such implementation. \n  \n \nKeynote speaker: \nMatt Paradeis is senior completions engineer work for Chevron based in Denver\, and primarily focusing on the DJ Basin. After graduating from Missouri University of Science & Technology with a degree in petroleum engineering\, he began his career in Houston with Chevron in 2012 working as a rock mechanics specialist focusing on near-wellbore and reservoir scale geomechanics. He’s spent 8 years working deepwater assets in the Gulf of Mexico including 3.5 years as a field engineer offshore executing completions and drilling operations. He also has experience as a deepwater drilling engineer\, project engineer for a 20\,000psi mobile offshore drilling unit and process safety engineer. He joined the Chevron Rockies Business Unit in July 2022. \n  \nEvent Registration Link: Click HERE\nJack England Pass Registration Link: Click HERE\nGeneral Meeting Group Ticket Registration Link: Click HERE\n \nGOLD Sponsor: DarkVision

SUMMARY:Technical Happy Hour: Adam Block - Project Phantom - Integrating Physics With Analytics to Optimize Well Performance
DESCRIPTION:  \nWhen: \nSeptember 26\, 2023 \n\n4:00 PM Happy Hour Starts\n4:30 PM Technical Talk followed by social until 6:00 PM\n\n  \nSpeaker: \nAdam Block\, P.E. Reservoir Engineer\, Ovintiv \n  \nTitle: \nProject Phantom – Integrating Physics With Analytics to Optimize Well Performance \n  \nAbstract: \nData-driven statistical models and physics-based simulations are both regularly applied to predict unconventional well performance. This project set out to integrate generalized ResFrac simulations with Ovintiv’s multivariate regression model to improve the predictivity of future well performance. Through the creation of a new ensemble model\, Project Phantom created a tool to better predict oil production in the Midland Basin than either multivariate regression or simulation could independently. \n  \nSpeaker Bio: \nThe Project Phantom team consisted of Mark McMclure\, Charles Kang\, Kerstan Wallace\, Cameron Cross\, Claudia Molina\, and Adam Block. Adam will be sharing results from the project on the team’s behalf. A native of Cheyenne\, Wyoming\, Adam received B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Energy Systems Engineering from the University of Wyoming in 2017\, and he is currently pursuing an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. Adam has experience in production\, facilities\, drilling\, development\, and reservoir engineering with a more recent focus on data science. \n  \nRegistration Link: Here
