Community Outreach

SPE donates money every year to help with awards, logistics, etc.

  • The Denver SPE section has a very active community outreach program, holding a handful of volunteering opportunities a month and contributing hundreds of volunteer hours yearly. We are always looking for more volunteers to allow us to widen the impact we have on the communities we live in. SPE’s outreach program comprises two areas, SPE Cares (philanthropic outreach) and Energy4Me (science education). The Denver SPE section has a very active community outreach program, holding a handful of volunteering opportunities a month and contributing hundreds of volunteer hours yearly. • SPE Cares
  • SPE Cares volunteering activities involve charitable giving as well as volunteering for charitable organizations. Historically Denver SPE has volunteered and/or contributed to organizations such as the Denver Rescue Mission, the American Red Cross, Special Olympics Colorado and Oilfield Helping Hands (OHH).

Energy4Me (www.energy4me.org)

Energy4Me is SPE’s energy outreach program. This program involves hands on experiments for kids and project and career mentorship for older students. It is a great way to get involved and teach kids about energy related concepts as well as providing guidance on engineering/technical sciences as a profession. SPE has been involved with several elementary, middle and high schools in the Denver area as well as the Denver Metro Region Science and Engineering Fair (DMRSEF), Colorado Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF), and Girls Entering STEM (GESTEM).

How do I get involved?

  1. Check the Denver SPE website for volunteering activities/registration links
  2. Reach out to us via Linked In, Facebook, or the contact page on the Denver SPE website

SPE Cares is a global volunteering initiative of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) aimed to promote community service worldwide while bringing together students, young professionals, and experienced professionals. We can shed a positive light on the oil and gas industry and make a difference in our community outside our careers!

Want to volunteer? Have an idea for a volunteer event? Contact us through our Contact Page.

Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Denver is challenging high school students to show us their energy and participate in an Energy-Themed Competition! This is our first year organizing the SPE-Sponsored Challenge and we need volunteers to help kick-start this program.

Opportunities include:

  • Working with groups of students as they develop energy-themed projects
  • Judging the final competition for creativity, technical content, and relevance to the energy industry.

Please help us promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities among High School Students! If you are interested, please contact us through our contact page.
